BEING:
To
Be
or
To Continue Forever Becoming
---that's the real Question...
If your life works well
and you are satisfied, fine. But if there's room for growth in your
understanding or need for improvement in your life, or if you're
interested in exploring the nature of your mind, step into my parlor.
Like scaling a rock wall,
subjective exploration is based on making a myriad of small choices.
The wisdom of our choices determines both our direction and our ultimate
success. But if we do not
see--or notice--all
available options, those choices relating to our progress remain limited, even
perhaps leading us in unanticipated, unwelcome directions.
The purpose of this
article is to bring to your notice subtle, subjective choices you might
otherwise overlook. As any
artist will tell you, clearer 'seeing' is an acquired skill, not a talent.
And practice in making finer subjective choices leads you more
immediately in the
direction of your own self-chosen destiny.
Many contemporary
spiritual practices and attitudes have been talked to death and are no
longer useful to the modern seeker. My
interest here is in actually clarifying the critical step between enlightenment (I assume you
are sufficiently enlightened to move forward) and illumination.
This is the distinction between 'relative' and 'absolute', of course, or
between soul and spirit. Big, big distinction in terms of how you choose
to view yourself, your companions, and the world at large! By highlighting familiar ideas in a new context, perhaps I can
'strengthen your hand' and save
you time.
Making better choices includes
having more options,
lots more options. So we
need either to discover--or to create--more viable options in our thinking,
in our attitude, in our perspective.
This life-altering process requires little more than the willingness to look at things
more objectively or abstractly, perhaps from novel points of view, and of course persistence. Persistence,
always, is the
final guarantor of success.
Some people
believe there is no common ground between Divinity and common reality.
They are wrong. Others believe that common ground exists as a
spiritual realm but that they are not an inherent part of it. They
are also wrong. As Anwar Sadat
pointed out in his autobiography, “He who cannot change the very fabric
of his thought will never be able to change reality and will never make
any progress. Change has to take place at a subtle (rather) than the
conscious level”.
All of life is our playground if we approach it in the right way with
the right tools. Step with me beyond
spiritual 'becoming',
beyond notions of soul and consciousness, into the more abstract world
of Being where we may participate creatively in human achievement for the next 2,000 years. Really.
As we alter our
personal perception of Time, we produce certain transformations in our
perspective, our thinking. This does
not concern the usual perceptual shift from material to spiritual
attitudes which, frankly, bores me. This virtual transformation takes us
instead from our habitual focus on relationships (whether material or spiritual) to
sensitivity to life itself--shifting from soul, so to speak, to
spirit, from consciousness to spirit, from forever becoming to eternal Being.
If this interests you,
please start either with the brief
Table of Contents or with Part 1 of BEING:
Beyond the Soul. Soul? or Spirit?--the subtle choice that changes lives.
Or perhaps
you may wish to start with this next topic:

CHOICE:
The Spiritual Case for
Reproductive Choice
Actually,
the real name of CHOICE is:
Creating Life, Negating Conception (and other secrets of hormonal
self-control).
I write about subtle
processes in a straightforward, simple way. I introduce the very real possibility of
hormonal self-control as an unnoticed potential of
the human mind (both male and female) with astonishing reproductive implications.
The related techniques (whether enhancing a desired pregnancy or
avoiding an unwanted one) depend absolutely on two things:
-
grasping the distinctly
dual
nature of reproductive choice, and
-
using technically accurate techniques of visualization.
In creating a coherent
overview, I flagrantly generalize to clarify finally from a spiritual (not
religious) perspective what otherwise remain merely controversial and
theoretical ideas, such as:
Start with the introduction to
Creating
Life, Negating Conception (and other secrets of hormonal self-control).
And if you think this is only for women, think testosterone.
In understanding the underlying issues, we discover human beings
simultaneously make reproductive
choices on two distinctly different
levels--physical and hormonal (spiritual). If reproductive choices are not
the same on both levels, the results are unpredictable, distressing, and
frequently unwanted.

LIGHTS:
Thinking
through the future
An examination of the
substructure of our newest new age reveals the specific nature of
our current planetary
transition, and the new path of least resistance for human enlightenment.
At the turn of every
century is a brief transition period when many people are increasingly
optimistic about the future, while others fear the end of the world.
A hundred years ago, people were convinced the 20th century would
see the end of war, disease and poverty.
Ah, well… And now, at
the concurrent end of both the hundred years of this century and the two
thousand some odd years of the astrological age of Pisces, surely the 21st
century will see the end of war, disease and poverty.
Right…
Accurate
perception of the future is far more than noting whether the glass
appears half-full or half-empty. Our understanding is
based on life as we see it. So we
can extrapolate with equal validity:
 | a terrible future based
on the death throes of a fragmented civilization, growing ecological
dangers; disintegration of trusted national institutions and
unwieldy, antiquated systems, or
|
 | an
exciting—though not trouble-free—future based on the emergence
of a culture responsive to planetary needs (in spite of frustration
that many needed networks and systems have yet to be developed).
|
|
With equal validity...except for the subtle
but dynamic reality of our recently changed astrological circumstances.
‘May you live in interesting times’ is said to be
an old Chinese curse. Times
of transition, enriched by conflict and uncertainty, are awkward,
dangerous and inevitably interesting.
Many of us today live in such an interesting time called
‘modern life’. Many
others still live in the past. And
a few, very few as yet, also live in the future. The
world is peopled by those whose perception reflects varying degrees of
understanding about how life actually works.
At this moment, two major perspectives are
in conflict, past and present. One has
governed progress for the past 2,000 years, the other will hold sway for
the next 2,000 or so.
What is called by some the Piscean or personal
perspective (seeing things as they were) is passing out of prominence,
and the so-called Aquarian or group perspective (seeing things as they are) is
coming into influence.
People representing each point of view work hard for what they
simultaneously perceive as ‘a better future’.
Within each equally perceivable, interpenetrating reality,
intelligence runs the full gamut.
To better understand this transition in consciousness
we can examine in detail the influences at play in the astrological
substructure of our solar system at this interesting period of change.
Prior knowledge of astrology isn’t important.
We’re talking abstraction!

LIBERTY:
THREE ASPECTS OF GOVERNMENT: Three Approaches to Freedom
The world community is continually shocked
by bloody power struggles which erupt virtually without warning
in various parts of the world. We also are shocked by all forms of
intervention, by any nation, especially involving terrorism, or war. All such power
struggles--internal or external--inevitably involve use of force, of course, but the
methods of problem
solving differ from nation to nation, group to group, person to
person. The choice of method tends to be dictated by our choice of
approach to the idea of freedom. Consider the distinctions between Socialism,
Democracy and Communism...I

Intensifying
the spirit, the light within, is an awesome exploration that shifts the
interest
from
enlightenment (consciousness) to the adventure of illumination (life). The most
effective technique for enlightenment as articulated by Socrates:
“The nearest
way to glory
is to strive to be what you wish to be thought to be”.
It works.
